Additional Information Joseph PIPKIN: Notes: REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIER, Ensign in the Militia in 1761 as recorded in the Justic and Militia Officers, 1754-1770. He is also listed in the REVOLUYIONARY WAR ACCOUNTS Vol "I" page # 33, Folio # 2 and Vol VI. page # 83, Folio 4 asbeing paid by Comptrollers Office. ************************************* Joseph Pipkin, b. ca. 1705, d. Jan., 1789, m. Susannah Yeates, daug. William of Bertie Co[unty], NC [North Carolina]. Joseph was of Justice of Peace, Dobbs County, NC. Served as an Ensign in the Militia in 1761 as recorded in the “Justices and Militia officers,” 1754-1770. He is also listed in the “Revolutionary War Accounts,” Vol. I,pg. 33, Folio 2 and Vol. XI, pg. 83, Folio 4 as being paid by Comptroller’s Office ************************************* “Abstracts of Early Deeds of Wayne County, NC, 1780-1793” #274 p. 325 – Andrew Bass of Wayne Co[unty], doctor, deed to Stephen Cobb, Joseph Pipkin, and Needham Whitfield, commissioners for erecting the public buildings For Wayne Co., Feb. 14, 1784, “for the consideration of the regard and respect which I have for the good government of the County of Wayne,” a parcel of three acres of land on the north bank of Neuse River below the mouth of the Little River beginning in an old field called West Point old field just below the landing, being part of the land he holds by deed from Robert Bignall, Esquire, for the erection of public buildings thereon and for holding Courts, auctions, general or petty musters, elections, and other kinds of business of a public nature. Wit: Rich’d McKinne, John Umphrey. Wit: Rich’d McKinne, John Umphrey #334 p 29, State of NC [North Carolina] Grant No 519 to Joseph Pipkin, Nov 10, 1784, for a tract of 40 acres in Dobbs Co[unty] on the south side of Nuse River and on Falling Creek adjoining James Rhodes and his own line. #337 p 34, State of NC [North Carolina] Grant No 518 to Joseph Pipkin, Nov 10, 1784, for a tract of 170 acres in Dobbs Co on the north bank of the upper prong of Fauling Creek and on Kellys Branch adjoining his own line and Elisha Pipkin #388 p 143, Joseph Pipkin of Wayne Co[unty] deed to Joseph Sessions of same, June 3, 1781, for 1,400 pds [pounds] current money a 200 acre plantation on the north side of Fauling Creek adjoining John Bizzell, Robert Eachus, said Sessions, John Bryan, and Lewis Pipkin, as by patent granted to Joseph Pipkin. Wit: Thomas Craddock, Willis Pipkin #421 p 36, Joseph Sessions of Wayne Co[unty] deed to Bryan Whitfield of Dobbs Co[unty], NC, [North Carolina] May 12, 1785, for 500 pds [pounds] specie a certain parcel of land in Wayne Co[unty] lying on the south side of Neuse River consisting of four tracts as follows: (1) 96 acres on the River, being part of a patent granted to Mark Phillips, including the plantation whereon Mary Fort formerly lived; (2) 140 acres on the River near Whitfield’s corner andadjoining Fort’s old corner, as by patent grante........... Susannah YEATES: Notes: Susannah was widowed in 1789 and died intestate in Wayne County, North Carolina in 1793. Her estate was then inventoried and auctioned. Footnotes
